APOY 2024 Final Round Open: Share Your Best Work for a Chance to Win

The Amateur Photographer of the Year (APOY) 2024 competition has officially opened its final round for entries, inviting photographers of all skill levels to submit their best work. This round, themed simply as OPEN, encourages participants to showcase a wide array of subjects—from stunning landscapes to intricate still-lifes—without the constraints typically found in photography contests.

For this unique round, any genre or subject matter is acceptable. This means if you have a favorite shot that didn’t fit into previous categories or one that’s simply your standout piece, now’s your chance to share it. The versatility of this round opens doors for creative expression, allowing everything from portraits to abstract art. Whether you're focusing on specialized techniques, like macro photography of everyday items, or capturing the beauty of nature, the only limit is your imagination.

Meet the Judges: Maria Falconer and Ben Brain

This round features guest judges Maria Falconer and Ben Brain, both of whom bring extensive expertise in photography. Maria Falconer, a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS), combines her role as a practitioner and teacher with running workshops across the UK and Europe. Her insights into both practical and artistic dimensions make her an invaluable contributor to the judging process. More information about Maria’s workshops can be found at www.mariafalconer.co.uk.

Co-judge Ben Brain merges his personal photography practice with writing and instruction. His experience includes international speaking engagements and serving as chair on the RPS Distinctions panel. Discover more about Ben's work and photography insights at www.benedictbrain.com. Their combined perspectives will provide a rich foundation for evaluating the submissions in this round.
