film Q processes files in the cloud ☁️, privately and securely. There’s nothing to install; it works on any device with a web browser: iOS, Android, Mac, Win, Linux.

film Q does not alter the colours, contrast, or saturation of your scans. It uses this well-known technique, which yields flat positives that you can further adjust in your favourite image editor (Photoshop, Affinity, GIMP, etc.).

It can provide low-compression, full 4:4:4 chroma JPEGs (the default for maximum compatibility, quality, and space savings) and lossless 16-bit TIFFs. I used film Q’s default JPEG output mode for all my edits.

Everything you see here was scanned from 135-format rolls using my Nikon SUPER COOLSCAN 5000 ED or PrimeFilm XAs, with VueScan set to produce uncompressed 16-bit TIFF files (media as “Slide film.”)

(That’s just my personal setup — I routinely test film Q against various formats, scanners, and digital camera files).
